| | | BUSHIES DREAM by Grace Brunton
As the days start getting shorter and summer draws to a close,It’s time to dust the Sherrin off and drag out my footy clothes.I’ll polish up my boots and have a kick down at the park,Get my mates to come along so I can practice taking marks. I can’t wait for sign on day when the footy season starts,I want to get right in there, to really make my mark. When it’s selection time for Bushies, I’ll be as fit as I can be,And I hope that the selectors will take a chance on me.
I’ll train my little heart out to make the final side,To wear the Bushies colours and to wear them with great pride. And if I’m picked I’ll be ‘engaged’ as a Bushies player should,Do my pushups and my stretches and eat the proper foods!
For there’s no feeling that’s quite like it, to run out on the field,With my favourite number on my back and to feel the tension build. And as the umpires bounce the ball, I’m living my Bushies dream,I’m so proud to be a Bushranger in the purple, white and green! __________________
